Celebrating Purim in Jacksonville is always a very meaningful holiday; and so enjoyable for everyone. I’m always amazed how the Purim spirit fills the air, beginning with the reading of Megillah Esther. There were several readings of the Megillah at all of the Jacksonville Synagogues including Etz Chaim Synagogue, the various Chabad Centers around town and the Jacksonville Jewish Center, ensuring that everyone in the community could participate in the mitzvah of hearing the Megillah. In addition, folks at River Garden Hebrew Home were also able to join in, thanks to the generosity of local Rabbis and lay leaders who read the Megillah for those unable to attend synagogue services. Non-stop Purim festivals, parties and dinners were enjoyed by all. And Rabbi Yaakov and Henny Fisch treated us all to a huge ice cream party in their front yard!
