Every thriving Jewish community depends on a strong educational foundation, and in Jacksonville, Florida, Torah Academy is helping shape the next generation of Jewish leaders, thinkers, and community builders.
With 92 students enrolled from Pre-K through high school, Torah Academy provides a close-knit environment where every child is known, valued, and encouraged to reach their full potential. The school serves students through elementary, middle school, and separate boys’ and girls’ high school programs, creating an educational experience rooted in both academic excellence and Jewish values.
What makes Torah Academy especially unique is its commitment to preparing students not only for graduation, but for the opportunities that lie beyond. Through its dual enrollment program, high school students can take college courses while still enrolled in high school, earning college credits and gaining a head start on their future academic careers.
At the center of this vision is Rabbi Joey Hamaoui, Assistant Head of School, whose energy and enthusiasm are felt throughout the campus. Rabbi Hamaoui describes himself as a “builder”—a fitting title for someone constantly looking for ways to strengthen educational opportunities for Jewish youth.
Whether connecting with schools, educators, or community leaders across Florida, Rabbi Hamaoui is focused on creating partnerships that benefit students and expand what’s possible in Jewish education. His collaborative approach reflects a belief that communities grow stronger when they work together to invest in the next generation.
“Building” means more than creating programs or partnerships. It means helping students discover their strengths, develop confidence, and prepare for meaningful futures. It means creating an environment where young people can succeed academically while deepening their connection to Jewish learning and values.
Families at Torah Academy often speak about the school’s warm atmosphere and sense of community. With small class sizes and dedicated educators, students receive the personal attention they need to flourish both inside and outside the classroom.
As Jacksonville’s Jewish community continues to grow, Torah Academy remains an important pillar of that growth—providing a place where students are challenged, supported, and inspired every day.
Through innovative programs, dedicated leadership, and a commitment to excellence, Torah Academy is not only educating students—it is helping build the future of Jewish life in Northeast Florida.
This month, we proudly shine our Community Spotlight on Torah Academy of Jacksonville and the educators, students, and families who make it such a vital part of our community.
